GSK to interface thousands of instruments
to Sapphire with WSP Connect

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is a worldwide pharmaceutical company with more than 30 laboratories. They have an unlimited, Enterprise Sapphire LIMS license and decided to use WSP Connect for integrating all their instruments belonging to category one, i.e. instruments with direct one-way communication not sending sample identification, using WSP Connect.

Andy Bowley, responsible for the implementation of instruments to the LIFT-project at GSK, says that WSP Connect is installed in a 5 UNIX cluster environment as a daemon and will serve up to 2800 instruments including balances, pH-meters, conductivity meters, melting point instruments, moisture instruments, particle counters, photometers, titrators and viscometers.

“We chose WSP Connect because its architecture and technical solutions met our requirements. We are happy with the solution and it is very simple to add new instruments. We have been able to match the solution with the needs of a multi site worldwide deployment”
