Electronic results - fast and cost effective

The municipal food and environmental laboratory of Seinäjoki in Finland offers its customers food, environmental and water quality analyses. The director of the laboratory enterprise, veterinarian, Seppo Kangas knows that customers are won with service quality and effectiveness.

A year ago SeiLab renewed its laboratory management system together with Software Point. One of the key issues in this project was to increase cost efficiency in the laboratory. Placing orders and delivering results was to be automated to as much as possible in order to ensure flexible and fast customer service.

An electronic Result Service was born and created with Software PointŽs WiLabLIMS Online application. Via the Result Service customers can fetch their own laboratory results directly to their own computers through web browser. Results can be fetched in table and graphical form, but also as predefined analyses reports. Result down-loading to customers own information management system is also possible. A registered customer can order analyzing services and print finalized identification labels for marking their samples. When samples arrive in laboratory, the actual analyzing starts quickly and controlled thanks to bar-coded labels.

“Our customers using the Result Service especially appreciate the fastness of receiving results. The workload in our laboratory has been reduced through the automated creation of analysis certificates to PDF form. We are in a learning phase what comes to our customers placing orders themselves, which means that the samples will be registered automatically”, tells laboratory director Matti Rohunen, who is currently introducing the Result Service to his customers.
