Welcome to the 4th Nordic LIMS Conference
27-28 March 2012

Hanasaari, Espoo, Finland

"LIMS solutions and Laboratory Intelligence - future trends"

The 4th Nordic LIMS Conference - NLC 4 – continues a tradition of LIMS Conferences started in 2005. The purpose is to gather everybody interested in LIMS; laboratory managers, quality managers, IT managers and users, to discuss trends in modern LIMS solutions and laboratory intelligence during a two day conference at the Hanasaari Cultural Centre in Espoo, Finland. Software Point is celebrating its 20th anniversary, with a festive conference dinner.

April 2011, Software Point became a part of the LabVantage Group. We are therefore happy to extend the conference from the Nordic LIMS community to customers and LIMS users all over Europe. User group meetings and workshops for our various LIMS will be part of the program.
In the already traditional Interactive exhibition, it will be possible to get hands on experience of all our solutions, and to discuss with our experts.

Intelligent Product Lifecycle management with LIMS
Increasing business pressures, new market challenges and the opportunities presented by the digital age are re-defining how R&D delivers its contribution to innovation and growth. The need for easily accessible, joined up product information, organisationally, across geographies and across the full product lifecycle is increasing. Product Lifecyle Management (PLM) is an approach being adopted in many industry sectors to meet this need. For Fast Moving Consumer Goods companies like Unilever LIMS systems play a key role in PLM. In this presentation, Huw Evans will outline the need and drivers for PLM in Unilever and the role that LIMS plays.

Huw Evans, R&D Information Director, Unilever U.K.

Improving decision making and performance with Laboratory intelligence
This session addresses the potential of intelligent use of valuable laboratory data. Today organisations are actively seeking Business Intelligence (BI) solutions for transferring laboratory data into knowledge. In this session our expert speakers will share with you their experiences and visions on:
    -  How Laboratory intelligence – BI for Laboratories -  can improve decision making and performance, both in laboratory operations and in overall business?
    -  How a manufacturing company analyses LIMS data jointly with process data ?
    -  How  a public body  or a service laboratory can utilize BI  to dig and discover meaningful findings from their archive of lab data?

Intelligent LIMS supporting different types of laboratories
(manufacturing QA/QC, analytical service, R&D, healthcare)

The purpose of the session is to give attendees an overview and understanding of LIMS requirements and needs from different types of businesses and laboratories. Often it is understood that all laboratories just login requests and samples, enter results and report them. In reality laboratories in various areas have different requirements and working processes based on business needs. What is required and how could laboratories be better supported by LIMS?
