LabVantage to sell WSP Connect world wide - Software Point delivers integrated solution for instrument connection to GSK

LabVantage Solutions based in New Jersey, USA and Software Point have signed a contract granting LabVantage the rights to license WSP Connect to Sapphire customers world-wide. WSP Connect is a tool developed by Software Point for connecting instruments and systems to Sapphire LIMS. LabVantage has already licensed the WSP Connect package to Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) to be used globally for connecting balances and other instruments to their Sapphire LIMS.

Raimo Oinas, technical director at Software Point, says that the architecture used for developing WSP Connect fitted well into the requirements of GSK and LabVantage. "We have developed a solution that is truly integrated with Sapphire. The system itself just runs on a server and independently communicates both with instruments and with Sapphire. The solution includes Sapphire web pages for the end-user communication, thus no additional client software, except for administrative tasks, is required to laboratory users" says Oinas. This makes it very easy to add new instruments to any system.

Another application of WSP Connect is related to connecting Sapphire LIMS to other systems. Software Point has recently sold a system for HL7-integration to a private service laboratory in the health care sector. "They will be able to manage requests and answers from several hospitals and health centers with this new integrated interface" says Jouko Kuisma, business area manager for health care solutions at Software Point.
