Software Point delivers multidisciplinary laboratory system to Norrbotten county council in Sweden
Software Point has again received a significant order from Sweden. In August Software Point signed a contract with Norrbotten county council to deliver a multidisciplinary laboratory system Sapphire C5 LIMS to all hospitals in Norrbotten county. The new system will be taken into use during 2010 in county’s six hospital laboratories of clinical chemistry and microbiology in Piteå, Sunderby, Kalix, Jällivaara and Kiruna.
Software Point’s modern system which integrates all disciplines of hospital laboratories into one system will replace present six separate information systems from three different suppliers. C5 LIMS –system is a centralized solution, which will function seamlessly in all laboratories in different districts and representing different disciplines.
Ove Kastebo, Manager of Laboratory Medicin of the Norrbotten county council tells: “We chose Software Point and C5 LIMS because we wanted a cost efficient and flexible system which is possible to extend to other disciplines, such as pathology.”
” We believe that we will achieve remarkable savings in application costs. There will be only one, centralized system in use in the whole Norrbotten county which will serve all our laboratories. Web-based C5 LIMS is easy to take into use in a large organization because there is no need for local installations”, states Kastebo.

Norrbotten coynty comprises approximately of the area of Sweden and it has around 250 000 inhabitants. Council has five hospitals in the county and laboratory analyses are made in each hospital; over 2 million samples are analysed annually.
